What is Inlay?
It is... Eric Cahill, keyboards and voice, Lafayette, Louisiana Darren Decuers, drums, Mandeville, Louisiana Jonathan Harder, guitars, Lacombe, Louisiana Sakara Ani, tambourine and voice, New Orleans, Louisiana And it does what? It started on September 15, 2008. Four friends met on the screened porch at Music Matrix Studio, chatted a bit, walked into the studio, moved to their instruments and someone started to play. There is no advance knowledge of where the music will take the players. What matters is complete submission to the moment. In other words: trance. Average trance length: six to ten minutes. Result is extemporaneous composition. A pattern was set with the September session: Two or three cuts performed, out to the porch for a break; back into the studio with session time running four to six hours; meet once a week, usually Monday, and so it goes. That was then...1 year ago. Inlay now has seven albums and five live performances under its belt. We are definitely on one helluva trip... Inlay ended January 15, 2011...but the music still exists.
